YouTube recently struck a deal with Freesat, a television network in the UK, to make their library of videos available as an over-the-air TV station! Anyone in the UK with a Freestat set box top and now use the HTML5 YouTube channel to browse and interact with videos.
My assumption is that YouTube will use this to promote their original channels initiative in the UK, but I’m wondering what impact it might have on YouTube as a social media platform. Most people view YouTube as a content delivery platform and this tends to reinforce that mindset.
