Why Is YouTube Taking Away My Views?

Something I often hear, though, is, “Why is YouTube taking away my views? It had more views yesterday than it does today!”

Have you ever noticed a sudden drop in your view count on your YouTube videos?

One minute you have 500 views on your video and the next you might have 480. What gives?

You might notice this happening with your subscriber count, too.

What’s happening here is similar to what happens when you go through TSA at the airport:

  1. You get an influx of views.
  2. YouTube “screens” each view to make sure it’s legitimate.
  3. YouTube filters out the views that aren’t actual views.

YouTube takes the currency of views very seriously. They regularly sweep out subscribers and views that are bots or even illegitimate in some way.

It’s YouTube’s way of making sure a real view is counted as a view and no one can “cheat the system.”

While traveling a few weeks ago, I shot a quick video going through TSA at my home airport to explain further why YouTube does this and how it works. Click here to watch why YouTube takes away your views.

While we know this can be discouraging, it is a normal thing that happens to everyone on the platform. It’s not that you’re doing anything wrong nor that you’re being penalized in any way. It’s just one of YouTube’s way of keeping the views and subscriber counts fair for everyone.

Cool? Keep changing lives!
