We KNOW you want to stand out on YouTube (why else would you be on this email list?). But with 500+ hours of content being uploaded to YouTube every minute, how are you supposed to do that?

Here are three ways you can. They’re not tips, tricks, or hacks. They’ll take some work, but we promise you WILL stand out if you practice these.

  1. Stop trying to please everyone. You only need to be on YouTube for ONE person. Meaning – if you outline the exact person you want to talk to and connect to your stuff, then more people like that person are going to connect with who you are and what you’re trying to say. This needs to be clear and communicated through your titles, thumbnails, channel art, and your video content itself. Also, we’re NOT talking about demographics here. The thing most creators miss is knowing their audience’s story like the back of their hand. The way you get to a million subscribers is by starting with one and making that one person feel like your channel is made specifically for them.
  2. Get inspiration outside of your niche. Who is doing something COMPLETELY outside of what you do and ask yourself… “why do I like this person?” How are they presenting info or keeping you entertained? What are some ways you can experiment with your channel to keep it fresh and make your videos more engaging to your audience? Just like the best authors are the ones that read the most books, the best YouTubers are the ones that watch the most YouTube.
  3. Stop trying to make your videos perfect. Make it authentic. There’s a reason people feel connected to other people who are just themselves and not perfect robots. It’s why we laugh when we heard a dog barking in the back of our co-workers Zoom call. Or why we love watching behind the scenes content. What makes you unique/stand out? Lennon, a fellow strategist on my team, offers a challenge to help you figure that out in our podcast episode above. Once you find that out, use that to your advantage and don’t be afraid to show mistakes you make to your audience.

We know these are harder to implement than to read about, but you don’t have to make these changes overnight.

And if you need any extra support or feel stuck at any point, that’s what we’re here for! :-)
