Selling products to your YouTube audience through your channel can be a great way to earn revenue from them that keeps your channel sustainable. It even supports you while you make great content for them. Let’s talk about some practical tools you can use and some ways to do that.

One of you wrote and asked this,

Can you make a video where you go in depth on how to actually sell your eBook online and, in return, getting the email IDs of your viewers?

So there’s a couple different aspects to this question. Let’s talk about getting the email IDs from your viewers. First of all, the best way to do that is actually to give away a free resource. It doesn’t have to be an eBook. It could be a PDF of some kind, but it could be a hidden video or bonus video. It could be almost anything that you want to provide that is of value to your viewers.

ConvertKit

And the way you offer that to them is to use, I use ConvertKit. I’ll link to them in the description below, not sponsored, but if you want to check them out, that’s who I use. And then you can have them sign up for your e-mail list. They sign up their name and their email, and then they confirm it.

And then after that, the welcome email that they get, hey, you’ve successfully joined the email list, thanks for subscribing. That email then contains the link to whatever resource that you want to give them or provide for them. In my case, I offer the eBook, The Secret to Building Your YouTube Channel. It’s completely free and people love us.

It’s a lot of really good value that I just try to give away to help people grow their audiences and, in exchange for that, I get their email address. And then every week, approximately, I just send out more valuable information. I don’t spam people. It’s like, hey, you know, here’s something else I won’t talk about that doesn’t really fit into a video, but I think it’s important for us to think about as creators and developing our audiences. And I just send those emails almost weekly.

So if collecting email addresses is your primary goal, I would definitely go that direction. However, if you want to actually sell something and make some money, then you could do that through that email list. You can also do it on your channel.

There’s a few ways that I do it. I have my paid book called, 30 Days to a Better YouTube Channel, and the sales from that helps support this channel and all the free that I’m giving you guys three times a week here and several ways you can sell something.

WooCommerce

The way I do it is I have a WordPress website at VideoCreators.com and I’m using the WordPress plugin called woocommerce which lets me sell digital products such as video downloads, or PDFs, or basically any type of files, that files anything, images whatever. You can sell them.

And so that’s what I do. But there are other options, too, for those of you who don’t want to get into having your own website, and trying to figure out how to install security patches, and keep it updated and maintained, and fixing things when they break and all that type of stuff.

GumRoad

I would recommend starting with a place called gumroad.com. Again, there’s a link below. Mostly because there are no fees with them other than they take a small percentage of each sale plus credit card transaction fees, and you don’t have to deal with customer support. You don’t have to deal with updating the platform. Whatever.

You can just use it and it’s all ready to go. You don’t have to ever worry about it breaking, or your site going down, or anything like that. It’s super user friendly and they are constantly developing it, updating it with new features and stuff. So I think Gumroad is a great place to go.

GetDPD

If you want to go to a place where they’re not going to take a percentage of each sale, then I would recommend going to a place called the getDPD.com and there’s a small monthly fee. You just pay a flat fee, but then you can have unlimited transactions without having to pay a cut to each one of those.

But the downside to that is that you do need a website or someplace to host your product information because all they give you is that it adds a cart button for that product, that would then add that product to a cart. So you need an actual sales page. You would need something else still.

Shopify

Of course, if you’re looking for a full on e-commerce system that’s not hosted on WordPress, you can look at something like Shopify. I haven’t used it myself, but I’ve heard a lot of great things about it. Other places like squarespace.com. Again, I haven’t used them, but I hear a lot of great people talking about them and they have a pretty simple e-commerce thing built in as well. So those might be some options you want to check out.

Pivotshare

If you want to sell videos, either access to a one-off video or a subscription package on an ongoing basis to a library of videos, you can check out pivotshare.com. Again, I haven’t personally used them. They have a pretty steep revenue split at 30%. Before that 30%, you don’t have the worry about updates, and fixing the platform, and things breaking, and things like that.

So it depends on what value you want. But you can check out all those. Links are below. There’s really just a ton of different ways to sell things online. If you do a quick search for how to sell digital product, for example, you’ll just find tons and tons of different options there. So do some research on your own. These are some of the ones I’ve experimented with or heard good things about, so your mileage might vary though, of course.

So I would love for you to comment below. If you sell something, how do you do it? What platforms you use? What would you recommend? And if you are thinking about this subject right now, as always, the comments down below are super awesome. People here are offering value, far more than I often provide for you just in these videos.

Definitely learn from them. Get some other advice. Hear some other stories. Hear some other platforms that I haven’t mentioned here that might be exactly what you are looking for.
