Playlists are such an underutilized tool on YouTube for getting people to watch not only one video, but another video and another video and another video. It’s one of the few tools we have that actually allows us to craft the viewer’s viewing session and get them into another one of our videos. When that happens, we’re getting our most valuable viewer — someone who’s given us a higher-than-normal view duration — to do it again on another video. That not only increases watch time across videos, but extends the viewing session, both of which are important signals for YouTube in determining what videos to make more discoverable across the platform. Today we’ll discuss some ways to better utilize playlists so you get more views, more watch time, and grow your channel overall.
