We hear you. You want to grow faster on YouTube.

There’s a lot of things we could tell you to help you grow your YouTube Channel faster, so today we are going to dive deep into the world of your YouTube analytics, the place where you can get so many insights into what will grow your channel faster.

(Don’t worry if you’re not a big numbers person. This’ll be pretty simple.)

First things first… if you know nothing about the “all-powerful algorithm”, or YouTube analytics, you need to know this:

YouTube’s main goal is to surface videos that people are actually watching to the right people at the right time.

One of the tools YouTube uses to do this is watch time.

This means: the more time people spend watching a video, the more valuable Google deems that video to be.

YouTube is also looking at session time.

This means: how is this video contributing to how long someone is staying on YouTube? How does the video keep someone on YouTube longer?

So, overall, it’s important to remember that you’re making videos for humans, not robots. This isn’t a matter of sticking the right tags or keywords on your videos. These 2 metrics are simply a tool you can use to reach more people.

The first is….

1. End screens shown.

We’ll walk you through how you can see this in your analytics in this week’s podcast episode. Click here to listen to it.

However, the main thing to take away here is that time and time again, the data has shown that this metric shows you exactly what percentage of people got to the end of your video.

This is a HUGE metric to take notice of because studying the videos on your channel with a higher percentage of end screens shown will help you create more content like this on your channel.

Equally as important, the next metric you want to pay attention to in your analytics is….

2. Click through rate on the end screen.

If people are clicking on the end screens of your videos, that means that video was so compelling, the viewer feels led to watch another one!

This increases your watch time, session time, and lets YouTube know they need to surface your content to more people.

Remember, obsess over PEOPLE, not the numbers.

Keep changing lives,
